Honda demos decamp to Hampton Downs

Honda Powerhouse dealers from the North half of the North Island take their demonstrators and customers to stage a ride day at Hampton Downs on 1 March

Botany Honda, Cyclespot Honda and Honda Hamilton will all be present at the Honda Riders Club NZ ride day. Customers will be able to ride the track on their own road bikes and dealer demonstrators, alongside New Zealand's own Superbike aces Aaron Slight and Hayden Fitzgerald; Fitzgerald fresh from his 2nd place podium at Paeroa, where he and Craig Shirriffs took the one-two for Honda, Shirriffs again crowned King of the Streets and setting a new lap record on his Honda Fireblade CBR1000RR.

Press and media will also be in attendance as Blue Wing Honda, New Zealands Honda Motorcycle and Power Equipment Distributor, take their fleet of new demos for the journos to put track time on, including all of Honda's new 2010 road bikes. Journalists will be able to directly compare the new VFR1200F Sports Tourer against a demonstrator classic Honda Super Blackbird that Blue Wing are bringing along to the track day.

You may think the race track is not the place for the latest new custom bike, the minimalist new Fury 1300cc Chopper, but if the assembled mass want road time along with track time, there are plenty of nice roads around Hampton Downs to try out the latest Honda range, so the new VTR250, CBF125 and Hornet X 600 will also be there for the press and the selected customers to ride.

Honda's sports bikes will also be there - including the Fireblade and CBR600RR electronic ABS models.

Both ABS-equipped models of the CBR1000RR Fireblades and CBR600RR have been raced successfully and as recent as December, a standard stock CBR600RR9 E-CABS finished 2nd at the Taupo 2 hour Endurance race in the NZ Tri-series, in the hands of Kiwi racers Hayden Fitzgerald and Jeremy Holmes the 600cc Supersport bike triumphed over stiff superbike competition.
